Is RV Camping Really Camping?

Have you ever been tent camping and chuckled at the RV campers next to you who have essentially brought a room of their house with them? Their RV was hooked up to running water, electricity and the children were indoors watching TV while their parents read magazines in lounge chairs outside. Not all RV campers do this, so where is that fine line that RVers cross from enjoying the outdoors to being guilty of relocating their house for a weekend? Do you think that’s really camping?

RVers, has this ever crossed your mind and do you camp to relocate or camp to be comfortable? Defend your positions, strike up a campfire and share your personal experiences and opinions. Let’s put this outdoors thing into perspective.

Please tell me this discussion is in jest. Of course RVing is a form of camping. Definition of camp: n. a place where an army or other group of persons or an individual is lodged in a tent or tents or other temporary means of shelter.

So, say tent camping or RVing if you like.

For 50 years, I’ve slept in both tents and RV, and both have their place.

LLD  - You can’t call RVing a form of camping.  LCD satellite TV, water and sewage hookup, power, paved spots.  Come on!

I’ll give on pop up campers, but no way RVing is camping.
