Indiana’s Summit Lake Olympics to Be Held August 3-4

Summit Lake State Park will celebrate the 2012 Summer Games by holding the Summit Lake Olympics on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3-4.

Events will include the throwing-disc challenge, a relay race, boat races, tug-of-war, and beach mini golf. “Medals” will be awarded for individual, team, and overall categories.

The Summit Lake Olympics begin with the lighting of the torch at 9 p.m. Friday at the naturalist campfire ring in the campground.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the beach parking lot. Teams are limited to four people. Each participating team can make its own flag. The parade to the beach will begin at noon.

Closing ceremony will be 5 p.m. at the beach.

The event is free, but the standard entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle will be charged.
