Colorado’s Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area Hosts a Hike to Lost Lake

On Saturday, Aug. 11, the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area’s (AHRA) Great Outdoors Colorado Naturalist Claire Davis and volunteer geologist Bob Hickey will conduct a short day hike to Lost Lake, located at tree line near Cottonwood Pass. The hike is a moderate three-mile round-trip and will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. The hike will focus on local glaciations and glacial lakes. The hike climbs through beautiful subalpine forest, breaking onto alpine tundra, with a final climb to Lost Lake.
Those interested in attending will meet at the trailhead on Cottonwood Pass. Hikers should dress for the weather with sturdy shoes, bring water and a picnic lunch or snacks.
