Quebec Ultimate Destination: The Super Bowl of Hunting Sweepstakes

While football fans were experiencing another kickoff heard ‘round the world on Sunday, the hunting world enjoyed the kickoff of the sixth annual Quebec Ultimate Destination Sweepstakes. February 1 was the first day to enter the 2015 edition of this unique sweepstakes in which entrants pick the exact hunting or fishing grand prize they want to win. This is the sixth Quebec Ultimate Destination Sweepstakes (or “contest,” as they call it in Canada).

CloseRange_300x250The Quebec Ultimate Destination Sweepstakes is a promotion by the Quebec Outfitters Federation (QOF) to introduce hunters and anglers to the products offered by its member outfitters who are some of the finest in all of Canada. Quebec is renowned for its caribou hunting, but it offers equally spectacular big game pursuits for black bear and whitetail. Even lesser known is the world-class waterfowl and upland bird hunting, but they are indeed fantastic even enticing many hunters from Europe each season.

Quebec truly is a hidden gem for the shotgunner. Recent winner Dennis Vicha from Georgia selected a ruffed grouse and woodcock hunting package with Auberge de la Griffe d’ours as the grand prize for him and his son. The Vichas’ hunt took place in the fall of 2014, and they reported a wonderful trip—successful and just plain fun.

One thing that sets the Quebec Ultimate Destination Sweepstakes apart is the QOF’s literal interpretation of the phrase “all expenses paid.” Basically, the winner and his/her guest (the prize trips are all for two) need only get themselves to their nearest airport for the flight to Montreal or Quebec. From there the airfare, hotel, rental car, license fees, incidental expenses, and, of course, outfitting fees are covered (US taxes are the winner’s responsibility).

The most unusual thing is the way you enter. It’s fast and easy, but you select from many grand prize options to customize the perfect dream trip to your liking. You go to www.quebecultimatedestination.com and click on either the hunting or fishing side of the sweepstakes. You can enter both the hunting and fishing contests, so do it!

campchef abmFrom there you fill out the brief entry form, and select from the various categories of trips offered. Say you select “bear hunting” as the category. From there you choose between great black bear packages offered by various outfitter members of the QOF.

With your “dream package” selected you just hit submit. You’re entered.

If your interest is sparked in your own hunting or fishing trip you can connect with the main QOF site and check out more packages from all of the Federation’s members.

No matter what your hunting or fishing passion, Quebec likely has a way to fan your flame. Get entered and you might win an all-expense-paid trip to experience an adventure next door!

Almost any hunting or fishing trips you select in Quebec will be more enjoyable if you remember to pack your ThermaCELL! Spring bear or snow goose hunting, early-season caribou, September or October whitetail on Anticosti Island, moose hunting, upland bird or waterfowl hunting, and any fishing trip when the lakes are not frozen over will be more enjoyable when you’re protected from mosquitoes. Hunting and fishing in Quebec goes hand in hand with ThermaCELL protection!

Bill Miller’s least favorite question is, “What is your favorite kind of hunting?”

He dislikes it so much because any answer may hint he’s willing to give up one or more of the lesser favorites. But if you press him really hard, his answer will be, “I really like anything I can hunt with a shotgun and over good dogs.”

At an early age, Bill became shotgunning addicted. Instead of an allowance in cash money, Bill earned shotgun shells for his chores around the family home. Then on Sunday afternoon’s he would haul an old Trius Trap out to the field behind the house on to the make shift “trap range” he’d mowed into the tall grass with the push mower. Then his dad would join him to supervise the shooting of the shells earned during the week.

About the same time, at age 11, Bill figured out he wanted to make his living experiencing outdoor adventures and sharing them with others. He wanted to be an outdoor writer. In the decades since, he has lived and continues living his dream.

He travels widely enjoying adventures close to home as well as on five continents. He shared his adventures on national networks hosing and producing shows for NBC Sports, Versus, Outdoor Channel, Wild TV, Sportsman Channel and others. He appeared on ESPN for 13 season on "Shoot More, Shoot More Often." During the production of “The Shooting Sports” for ESPN, Bill was honored to shoot frequently in the company of members and coaches of the USA Shooting Shotgun Team.

In 2012, participated in the Armed Forces Entertainment Outdoor Legends Tour to Afghanistan to entertain men and women serving in the military -- in his words, "...it was the greatest honor in my career and a life changing experience. His latest venture is a new book, "Reflections Under the Big Pine" he co-authored and published with K.J. Houtman.
