Video: The Lake That Disappears Every Year

Lying just off Highway 20 in Central Oregon is a lake with an unusual habit: every summer, it disappears.
In the winter time, Lost Lake in Santiam Pass fills up as a result of snowfall and other precipitation. The lake’s unique position above an open lava tube, however, causes it to drain almost completely through a small hole when the summer months roll around.
The video below, produced by the Bend Bulletin, shows the drainage in action.
