Video: The Wrong Way to Teach Your Child Archery

Oh boy, that was dangerous. When it comes to shooting a bow or a firearm, absolutely nothing is more important than safety—and your son pointing a bow at your head just about violates every rule on the list.

We don’t know what kind of equipment this young archer was using, but judging from his dad’s reaction, it was serious enough to be flustered over. It certainly wasn’t one of those suction-cup arrows. A lot of people who watched the video said that the adult should have at least finished setting up the target before giving the child the bow, or drilled the standard safety rules into his head before starting. Hindsight is 20/20. Just make sure this doesn’t happen to you.

Regardless of whether it was staged or real, this still serves as a lesson to those training young children in archery, and a reminder of how easily you can be injured.
