Cyclist in Triathlon Collides with Deer During Race

Triathlons are tough to begin with, but a competitor in the recent Dublin, Ireland, triathlon was faced with a whole new obstacle during his race.

While biking through Phoenix Park, cyclist Shane O’Reilly was struck by a fallow deer that apparently was competing in its own track event and attempted to high-jump over the cyclists. Photographers were standing by and were able to anticipate and capture the moment at the perfect time.

Mr. O’Reilly was left with a cracked helmet and a ringing head, but otherwise medically okay, he completed the grueling event in 2 hours and 25 minutes, despite the collision with the deer.
