7 Muskies Landed in 1 Day! TWO 50-pounders!

This article most likely showcases the BEST single day of muskie fishing anyone has ever experienced, anywhere.

Check this out: Guide Kyle Tokarski, who works for Alexander’s Sport Fishing Guide Service, was trolling with three clients on the bay of Green Bay (Lake Michigan) in northeast Wisconsin. On day No. 1, the group landed a 45-inch muskie and lost two other fish. Not bad, but it paled in comparison to what they’d experience on day two, October 19, 2016.

Kyle’s boat landed seven muskies – yes, seven! – and three of them were true giants. The photos shown here are of six of the seven fish; they didn’t take a pic of the smallest fish boated, a 30-incher. Each of the clients witnessed Kyle measure the length and girth of the two super tankers.

In Kyle’s own words, here’s what transpired on that magical muskie day.

We had a low-pressure system that was leaving the area, and a high-pressure system moving in. I told John, Chuck and Don that today was going to be a lot better day. We simply had a lot going for us, plus it was 2 days after the full moon, which is usually good on Green Bay.

We started on a long sand flat that the wind was beating during the last few days. The day before, I’d marked lots of fish on this flat on my Humminbird Side Scan, but the muskies hadn’t cooperated.

I set up 12 rods on planer boards, running firetiger and perch pattern Rapala Super Shad Raps. Halfway through my first pass, a reel drag starts ripping, so I knew it was a big fish. It ended up being a 55.5 x 26.5-inch muskie, and Don’s personal best (photo at top of page).

After the fish was revived and released, I got the boat up to speed and another rod went off. My clients didn’t even have the chance to sit down! I quickly netted a 42-inch fish for John (below).

After releasing the fish, I finished our trolling pass and then turned around. About halfway through, the same rod that got the 55.5 went off again, and we knew this fish was big, too. This time Chuck landed a heavy 51.5-incher (below).

About an hour later, John landed a 46, and a few hours later Chuck got a 44 (pics below). We also had a 30-incher mixed in there.

We could tell the bite had slowed down, and my clients were giving me hell – they wanted one more fish to beat my boat’s “most fish day” record.

It was getting toward the end of the day when all of a sudden we heard the screech of a reel drag. I could tell right away that this fish had some serious weight. After a 5-minute fight, I got the planer board off the line and could tell by the weight on the line that this fish had to be huge. It turned out to be one of the biggest fish I’ve seen netted, a fat 56-inch fish for John (below).

We were all in shock to catch and release TWO 50-pound muskies. It’s rare to make that happen in 1 year, and unheard of in 1 day.
