Florida Man Undergoing Chemo Treatment Pulls Bald Eagle from Alligator’s Mouth

Bald eagles are the symbol for America. That was one Florida man’s reasoning for jumping in the water to wrestle with an alligator after it snatched an eagle sitting near a pond in Manatee County.

The eagle was rescued by a man named David – a man currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments – who watched the eagle get pulled into the water by an alligator and immediately reacted.

David went into the water with the gator and pulled the bird away, but it was in critical condition.

Wildlife rescuer, Justin Matthews, rushed the bird to Save Our Seabirds in Sarasota, but the bird would not make it. Due to extraneous injuries suffered in the attack, the bird was euthanized shortly after it arrived.
