Hill Wins Walmart Bass Fishing League Choo Choo Division on Lake Guntersville

WHAT: Boater Rodney A. Hill of Decherd, Tenn., caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 29 pounds, 5 ounces Sept. 24-25 to win $5,997 in the Walmart BFL Choo Choo Division tournament on Lake Guntersville. Hill was using a Carolina Rig and fishing grass ledges on Goose Pond to catch his bass.

2nd: Rick Armstrong, Owens Cross Roads, Ala., 10 bass, 28-12, $2,999

3rd: Casey Whitehead, Robbinsville, N.C., 10 bass, 27-2, $1,997

4th: Freddy Palmer, Estill Springs, Tenn., 10 bass, 27-1, $1,399

5th: John J. Talton, Georgetown, Tenn., 10 bass, 26-15, $1,199

6th: Keith Buterbaugh, Douglasville, Ga., nine bass, 26-1, $1,100

7th: Casey Martin, New Market, Ala., nine bass, 25-4, $1,000

8th: Tim Buckner, Scottsboro, Ala., 10 bass, 25-2, $900

9th: Marshall Deakins, Dunlap, Tenn., 10 bass, 25-2, $800 + $1,000 Evinrude bonus

10th: Josh Butler, Huntsville, Ala., eight bass, 22-6, $700

WHAT: Jett Loach of Ringgold, Ga., caught a two-day total of seven bass weighing 23 pounds, 7 ounces Sept. 24-25 to win $2,999 in the Co-angler Division. Loach fished grass mats and used a Snag Proof Frog to catch his bass.

3rd: Daniel Crockett, Old Hickory, Tenn., nine bass, 20-4, $996

4th: Wes Ratcliff, Knoxville, Tenn., six bass, 16-10, $700

5th: Wayne Kilgore, Attalla, Ala., five bass, 14-8, $600

6th: Nick Coker, Knoxville, Tenn., six bass, 12-7, $550

7th: Bud McKelvey, Knoxville, Tenn., five bass, 12-2, $500

8th: Brian Bell, Good Hope, Ga., four bass, 11-14, $450

9th: Jerry Armstrong, Shelbyville, Tenn., five bass, 11-0, $400

10th: Jody Moore, Dalton, Ga., four bass, 10-8, $350

NOTES: The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Nov. 3-5 Regional Championship on Lake Hartwell in Anderson, S.C. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
