Sportsman Channel Partners with The Cable Show 2014 for Hunt.Fish.Feed. Event in Los Angeles on April 28

Chef Scott Leysath and Volunteers Will Serve 600 Vets at U.S. VETS Facility in Inglewood

Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for American sportsmen and women, announced today their annual partnership with The Cable Show 2014 for the network’s unique Hunt.Fish.Feed. event in Los Angeles on Monday, April 28 beginning at 5 p.m. Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. is a philanthropic outreach program that taps an underutilized food source—game meat and fish donated by sportsmen—to feed those struggling with hunger across America. Sportsman is partnering locally with The Cable Show 2014 to help organize, staff and transport volunteers to serve a dinner at the U.S. VETS facility, where volunteers, led by Chef Scott Leysath, will serve more than 600 people a hot meal of fish tacos from locally-caught fish donated by Catalina Off-Shore Products. Hunt.Fish.Feed. has served more than 21,000 meals since its inception.

Chef Leysath is an Executive Chef with more than 25 years experience cooking wild game and also hosts the TV shows “Dead Meat” and “The Sporting Chef” on Sportsman Channel. U.S. VETS-Los Angeles in Inglewood is the inaugural U.S.VETS site. It opened in 1993 with only five clients. Today, the site serves 540 veterans daily. Their mission is to provide a successful transition of military veterans and their families back into civilian life through the provision of housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support. U.S. VETS is the nation’s largest non-profit provider of comprehensive services to homeless and at-risk veterans.

“We’re honored to bring our Hunt.Fish.Feed. to a facility like U.S. VETS that helps our servicemen and women of all walks of life through tough times. We look forward to working with our partners at The Cable Show and the U.S. VETS facility to make this a successful and impactful event,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO of Sportsman Channel. “Programs like Hunt.Fish.Feed provide unique avenues to help the underserved, especially during an economic time that finds more and more people in need every day.”

“We are so excited that the Sportsman Channel chose U.S. VETS for their Hunt.Fish.Feed dinner this year,” said Ivan Mason, Executive Director. “Having Chef Leysath prepare a special meal and having Sportsman Channel staff serve our vets really makes them feel appreciated and valued. It lifts their spirits and lets them know that just because they have fallen on hard times doesn’t change who they are—military Veterans who have served our country with honor.”
