Prepare to be whisked away to extraordinary locations where glory and defeat hang on a single shot with the all-new entry in the successful Cabela’s hunting franchise, Cabela’s Hunting Expeditions, from Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI).  Discover a vast world bursting with top-notch action as players use a combination of strategy and stealth to stalk their prey and remain unnoticed long enough to capitalize on the perfect opportunity.  Cabela’s Hunting Expeditions is planned to launch Oct. 23 on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system , Wii system from Nintendo and a digital release version for Windows PC.

Cabela’s Hunting Expeditions is a wildly entertaining game that envelops players within the thrill of the hunt,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President, Activision Publishing.  “With a focus on the opportunity to hunt in a beautiful, wide-open world, this is the most authentic hunting title to date.”

Players can experience nature like never before with unprecedented freedom to hunt exactly how they wish.  The exhilarating campaign of Cabela’s Hunting Expeditions sends players through majestic terrains from North America to Africa, discovering and deciphering the best way to take down the wide variety of animals the game has to offer.  Plan the hunt accordingly, as rewards will be granted for an accurate shot, while an inaccurate one will leave gamers walking away empty-handed.

To ensure that gamers get the most out of their hunts, Cabela’s Hunting Expeditions utilizes Gun Builder mode that allows players to modify their firearms. The game also introduces an array of new all-terrain vehicles that make covering ground and discovering new hunting locations easier and more fun than ever.  Players will also improve their rank as they progress, unlocking better resources, new terrain and more challenging goals.

this actually looks pretty cool. I mean, it’s been say, oh, seven years since cabela’s actually made a good “Hunting” game that actually had something to do with the title. The only thing I don’t get is why it couldn’t be a Big Game Hunter. I mean, it’s got everything the Big Game Hunter series was about in it.

IMO “The Hunter” is a much more realistic hunting simulator. And it’s free. The Cabela series is more arcade. It’s fun maybe the first time you play it, but it don’t have a very good “play-several-times” feel to it. Atleast in “The Hunter”, you get updates like new hunting areas, new animals and weapons. You get NEW challenges everyday! And have a fantastic forum where the dev’s hang and acutually listens to users! Cabela’s gonna have to change ALOT to keep up with this!

Uh, number one, The Hunter is not free except from the free trial (it’s really just a demo, I mean, you’ve only got one place and one animal and one gun in it – just like Atari’s Deer Hunter series), and yes, Activision listens to users on their facebook page (look up Activision Hunts). I am, if I my say so, one of the reasons this game actually exists at the moment (They will tell you I am very adamant about an open hunt game), though I am not happy that it might turn out to be third person.
