Bullet Weights’ Mr. Crappie Product Line Continues to Grow

To the delight of crappie anglers around the country, Bullet Weights is introducing two additional rigs to its growing line of Mr. Crappie Troll Tech products.
“The first Mr. Crappie by Bullet Weights products hit the shelves in 2011 and we added an additional product to the line in 2012,” Bullet Weights President Joe Crumrine said. “Customer feedback and sales have both been very positive, so together with Wally Marshall (aka Mr. Crappie) we have developed two new products that will be available to anglers in 2014.”
The Mr. Crappie Slo-Troller Rig by Bullet Weights and the Mr. Crappie Double-Drop Rig by Bullet Weights provide anglers two different applications for crappie fishing.
Mr. Crappie Slo-Troller Rig by Bullet Weights
The Mr. Crappie Slo-Troller Rig by Bullet Weights is designed specifically for trolling in open water. The rig consists of a three-way swivel, 10-lb test Mr. Crappie Camo fishing line, a double-swivel barrel weight (painted black) and two hooks. The top of the three-way swivel is used to tie the main line. The pre-rig includes an eight-inch length of the Camo line extended out from the side swivel with a hook attached at the end. A 17-inch length of line is pre-tied to the bottom of the swivel and is attached to the barrel weight. Another nine-inch length of line is tied to the bottom of the barrel weight with a hook tied to the end of the line.
“This rig is perfect when fishing around stump beds, ledges and bridges where there is a lot of open water,” said Wally Marshall (aka Mr. Crappie). “When you are trolling very slow, like one-quarter mile per hour or less, this rig will give the baits a lot of action and also present baits at two different depths.”
The Mr. Crappie Slo-Troller Rig by Bullet Weights is available in 1/4 ounce, 3/8 ounce, 1/2 ounce and 3/4 ounce sizes. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is $7.99 for a three-piece pack.
Mr. Crappie Double-Drop Rig by Bullet Weights
The Mr. Crappie Double-Drop Rig by Bullet Weights is designed for slow-trolling and fishing vertically around structure in open water. The rig consists of a double-barrel swivel, 10-lb test Mr. Crappie Camo fishing line, a double-swivel, basscaster weight (painted black) and two hooks. The top of the double-barrel swivel is used to tie the main line. The Camo line is tied to the bottom swivel. The first hook is tied with a loop knot at eight-inches down the line, and the second hook is tied with a loop knot another 15-inches down the line. The weight is tied at the bottom of the line which is spaced 12-inches from the second hook.
“This rig provides several benefits to crappie anglers,” said Wally Marshall (aka Mr. Crappie). “It can be used to determine the depths of the strike zone the crappies are biting in. For instance, if I am catching a lot of fish on the top hook and not the bottom hook, I will raise the rig up 10 to 12 inches and get bites on both hooks.”
Marshall added the rig works great for fishing around structure such as standing timber and brush pile because if it gets hung up, he can bounce the rig and the weight will jerk it off the snag.
The Double-Drop Rig can be trolled or fished vertically. The vertical application works well when fishing for crappies at night.
