Ducks Unlimited Is Proud to Sponsor National Hunting and Fishing Day

Ducks Unlimited (DU) has long been known for its conservation efforts throughout North America and for helping to ensure future sportsmen and women have the same outdoor opportunities past generations have enjoyed. To that end, DU is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHFD) on Sept. 27.

“DU is honored to yet again be a sponsor of NHFD,” said DU CEO Dale Hall. “The conservation commitment of Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris – coupled with the dedicated leadership at Wonders of Wildlife – will make this year another great celebration of conservation and the hunting heritage.”

NHFD is a special day set aside each year to celebrate conservation efforts nationwide. States hold unique events and encourage all sportsmen and women to spend time outdoors and enjoy the day.

“Ducks Unlimited is committed to conserving critical waterfowl habitat across North America, and the success of this mission would not be possible without DU’s army of volunteers, the vast majority of whom are hunters, anglers and outdoorsmen,” Hall said. “We are honored to support National Hunting and Fishing Day and to commemorate the important contributions of sportsmen to America’s economy and outdoor heritage.”

NHFD is dedicated to raising awareness of conservation on public lands across the country, and DU’s support is a great example of presenting a unified voice for conservation.  DU also actively promotes hunting and shooting sports throughout the year.

This year world-renowned country music star, award-winning TV host and U.S. Army veteran Craig Morgan is the honorary NHFD chair.

Ducks Unlimited is the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. DU got its start in 1937 during the Dust Bowl when North America’s drought-plagued waterfowl populations had plunged to unprecedented lows. Determined not to sit idly by as the continent’s waterfowl dwindled beyond recovery, a small group of sportsmen joined together to form an organization that became known as Ducks Unlimited. Its mission: habitat conservation. Thanks to decades of abiding by that single mission, Ducks Unlimited is now the world’s largest and most effective private waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization. DU is able to multilaterally deliver its work through a series of partnerships with private individuals, landowners, agencies, scientific communities and other entities.
