Mountainsmith 3

Let me start by saying I am all thumbs when it comes to setting up tents. Therefore, I was amazed at how easy it was for my son and me to set-up the Mountainsmith Conifer 5+ Person Tent! You’re probably thinking he did all the work, but there really wasn’t any work to be done. With only three poles for the tent body and one for the large vestibule, we had the tent constructed in less than 20 minutes. The instructions are printed right on the stuff sack, but the color-coded system was so simple that we didn’t even need them.

Once we had the tent set up, I was impressed by the interior space. With 6’2” head height and 83.5 square feet, there is ample room for two adults, three kids, and the family dog. Plus, the vestibule offers an additional 33.5 square feet of space to use as a front porch, store gear, and/or serve as the port-a-potty area. In addition, a removable ceiling loft pocket and several mesh storage pockets provide excellent off-the-floor options for storing clothing and gear.

I did not encounter unfavorable conditions during review of the product; however, the tent’s durable construction, fly, bathtub floor, and taped floor seams lead me to conclude that the tent should provide more than adequate protection from the elements and years of family camping fun.

Quality

The Mountainsith Conifer 5+ Person Tent features a huge fly, spacious vestibule, sturdy aluminum alloy poles and stakes, bathtub floor construction, taped floor seams, and ample interior storage compartments. The materials are as follows:

  • Fly – 75d x 185t Poly PU2000mm W/R, F/R
  • Tent – 75d x 185t Poly Breathable F/R
  • Floor – 75d x 190t Poly PU5000mm W/R, F/R

It is a well-constructed, spacious tent that should provide years of service.

Reliability

This tent is definitely a reliable shelter. It has ample features to keep protect you and your family from the elements. It is sturdy enough to stand up against windy conditions, and having the components of a good fly and bathtub floor, it should also keep you dry when it rains. As previously stated, the tent is constructed of quality materials that should last for years.

Price/Value

At $359.95, the tent is a great value. It’s a lot of tent for the money.

Referability

For anyone in the market for a new tent, I absolutely recommend the Mountainsith Conifer 5+ Person Three Season Tent. It is easy to set up, includes features to protect you and your family from the elements, and constructed of quality materials. Add all that to ample interior space and storage components and you have a great tent!

Is it pretty light weight? It looks really nice.

    • TamiandAndy

Yes, it’s very light. i want to say it was under 10 lbs., but I would have to check the specs to be sure.

  • Sal

Did you test it in the wind? Wondering how it would do in a high wind?

    • TamiandAndy

The winds were probably blowing 10-15 mph the day I tested it.

the bathtub floor is nice, I’ve had water come into my tent more than once when i was a kid

    • TamiandAndy

Water in the tent is definitely no fun! The bathtub floor should prevent the water from comin gin.

Really nice tent I looked on their website, I think my hubby and I are going to get one.We had been using the smaller two person tent when we hike into the mountains of Colorado. We have one on the way and it would be nice to have the extra room for a little one.
