Who will Win this Year’s Mumma Trophy?

Bernosky defends NRA High Power title as Championship begins.

Port Clinton, Ohio – Four days of NRA individual High Power shooting began this morning as shooters started their long race for the prestigious Mumma Trophy. Last year’s champion, Carl Bernosky, won his ninth High Power title after shooting a 2393-160x. Will Bernosky make it an even ten this year? Maybe a new shooter will take the podium’s top spot.

Today’s matches are for the NRA Member’s TrophyScott Trophy and Coast Artillery Trophy. Two of the matches, the Scott and Coast Artillery, are shot rapid fire from 200 yards in the sitting/kneeling position and at 300 yards in the prone position respectively. The Member’s match is shot slow fire from 200 yards in the standing position.

Because of the rapid fire matches, everything should wrap up early today, around 3:00, and shooters will have plenty of time to relax before it starts all over again tomorrow. Weather is slated to be another perfect day with clear skies and temperatures not getting too hot. But then again, wearing layers of sweatshirts and shooting jackets will magnify the heat for many of the shooters.

Be sure to stay hydrated out there, and good luck today.
