2012-13 Winter Trout Stocking Drawing to a Close in Tennessee

The 2013-13 winter trout stocking program of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is drawing to a conclusion. A limited numbers of stockings will occur during March.

By the time this year’s stocking concludes, TWRA will have released more than 90,000 rainbow trout into Tennessee waters from December through March.

The program provides numerous close to home trout fishing opportunities for Middle and West Tennessee anglers during the winter months.

Upcoming releases include March 13-East Fork Shoal Creek (Lawrenceburg), March 21-Shelby Bottoms Park (Nashville) and Cowan City Park, March 22-McCutcheon Creek (Spring Hill) and Harpeth River (Franklin). The Franklin stocking has been moved to Pinkerton Park at the Tennessee Highway 96 bridge.

The trout will average about 10 inches in length. The daily creel limit is seven, but there is no size limit.

Please note that the dates and locations are subject to change. Updates can be found on TWRA’s website at www.tnwildlife.org under the For Anglers section.
