Third Annual Oilmen Against Muscular Dystrophy Shootout in Arkansas to Benefit MDA Families

The third annual Oilmen Against Muscular Dystrophy Shootout event is set to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday, April 6 at the Red T Farms in Emerson, Ark.

Oilmen Against Muscular Dystrophy was formed by Kelly Goodwin, an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys shooting sporting clays competitively, and also a parent of a child with muscular dystrophy. Goodwin and his family created the OAMD Shootout event as a way to help support the fight against neuromuscular disease.

“The support we have received over the past few years has been amazing,” said Goodwin. “We created this event wanting to raise not just funds, but awareness for families like mine who are affected by muscle disease. The Shootout tournament is a fun way for people in or community and surrounding areas to join our cause and help find a cure.”

Individuals can register prior to the event at oamdclays.com or the day of the event at 7 a.m. All registrants must attend a safety briefing on location before participating in the tournament.

The event will have three flight times, beginning at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The team sporting clays event will consist of teams of four competing for the highest composite score. First, second and third place winners will receive prizes for their performances.

In addition to the team event, registrants will have the opportunity to participate in two individual events including: “Team Rapid Fire Flurry” and “Five Stand” with the purchase of a $10 ticket which will also get them entered in a drawing for special prizes.

“This sporting clay tournament started out as a fundraiser for the Goodwin family that was part of our annual MDA Muscle Walk program,” said MDA Executive Director Tiffany Jones. “Now it’s grown into its own event for the Association and has raised thousands of dollars to help support the families we serve in the Ark-La-Tex region.”

Those who would like to compete in a different way than shooting have the option of participating in the third annual cook-off competition. From fried fish to pork chops or fajitas, competitors will receive a ticket from each shooting participant who chooses to purchase their food. The food vendor with the most tickets at the end of the Shootout event will win a cash prize. To participate in the cook-off, call (318) 918-3701.
