OutdoorHub 10.17.13
The 2013 Walmart BFL season concludes with the Chevy Wild Card on Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. The Chevy Wild Card on West Point Lake will provide BFL anglers who didn’t qualify for the Regional Championship a final chance to qualify for the BFL All-American presented by Chevy, one of the longest-running championships in fishing. The tournament is hosted by the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.
WHEN: Friday-Saturday, Oct. 25-26, 2013
WHERE:
West Point Lake
Southern Harbor Marina & Resort
1133 Country Road 294
Lanett, Ala.
Competitors can expect good fishing on West Point Lake. Fall patterns are likely to dominate and anglers will bring both spotted bass and largemouth to the scales. Competitors will probably scatter throughout the lake in an attempt to find bass relating to schools of shad in their fall migration. Popular baits will include shaky-head rigs, topwater baits, swimbaits, umbrella rigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs. The winner is expected to bring in about 20 pounds over the course of the two-day tournament.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
