Gulf Council Webinar to Discuss Engaging Recreational Anglers in Rule-Making

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council has scheduled a meeting of its Outreach and Education Advisory Panel via Webinar. The meeting is scheduled for December 6, 2013, and will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 1:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will be held via webinar. The advisory panel will:
- Elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman;
- Discuss enlisting logistical assistance from advisory panel members for Gulf-wide meetings to engage recreational fishermen in a discussion about the future of recreational fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
Although other non-emergency issues not on the agenda may come before the Advisory Panel for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the subject of formal action during this meeting. Actions of the Panel will be restricted to those issues specifically identified in the agenda and any issues arising after publication of this notice that require emergency action under Section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, provided the public has been notified of the Council’s intent to take action to address the emergency.
