Hell’s Bay Boatworks Names New GM

Marine industry media veteran Gary Jennings takes the helm

Respected veteran fishing magazine publisher, avid angler and conservationist Gary Jennings has joined Hell’s Bay Boatworks, taking the helm as its general manager.

After more than a decade with Bonnier’s Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, Jennings left the popular publication for an opportunity to join the boat company he has held in high esteem, having owned one of its early boat models for over a dozen years.

Jennings said, “The magazine allowed me to travel the world with a fly rod in hand and I am grateful and proud of my time there. But the chance to work with owners Chris and Wendi Peterson at Hell’s Bay Boatworks was something that I just couldn’t pass up.  I can still be involved with fly fishing while in the marine industry; it’s the best of both worlds!”

Wendi Peterson said “Chris and I have known Gary from a professional and personal level for many years. When we decided to bring a GM position to the company, we both only had one person on our list and that was Gary. The timing was right for him to make a change and we’re thrilled to have him as a new addition to the Hell’s Bay family.”

Jennings, who still owns the Hell’s Bay he purchased new in 2001 added, “I can’t begin to count the number of fish or all the great times I’ve had while fishing from a Hell’s Bay.”

He became associated with Hell’s Bay Boatworks in 1999 when he brokered an agreement between the then new technical flats boat company and the Coastal Conservation Association – Florida, where he worked as a regional director.

Prior to Bonnier and the CCA, Gary worked for The Walt Disney Company and Hilton, assisting with opening a number of properties for the two companies.

More than a decade of helping

Among its many causes of giving back, Hell’s Bay continues to be a major sponsor of conservation by supporting the CCA, the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and the IGFA, plus people causes like Project Healing Waters taking wounded war veterans fishing and through its own Military Appreciation Program involving active service personnel.
