Kentucky’s Menshouse and Withrow Bring in the Big Ones to Win the Cabela’s King Kat $10,000.00 Super Event at Santee

This past Friday and Saturday the 21st & 22nd the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail held the first of five $10,000.00 Super Events which will be held across the country this year. The first of these five events was held on South Carolina’s Santee Cooper Lakes where Catlettsburg, Kentucky anglers Cecil Menshouse and Jason Withrow took an overwhelming lead. At the end of the second day Menshouse and Withrow came to the scales weighing in nearly 30 pounds over the second place team along with capturing big fish of the event.

In the event over 120 top anglers from 12 different states as far away as Nebraska were competing for the $13,200.00 in cash and prizes. Be sure to check out our new website at: www.kingkatusa.com. Results for the Top 5 Teams

Taking first place was the Catlettsburg, Kentucky team of Cecil Menshouse and Jason Withrow weighing in 215.3 pounds in the 2-days and earning $5,000.00. Menshouse and Withrow also captured big fish of the event with a 46.76 pounds catfish giving the team an additional $1,200.00. The team was fishing the area around the dam of Lake Moultrie anchored down in 6-13 feet of water using gizzard shad and skipjack to catch a total of 7 fish in the 2-day event.

In second place was the Catawba, North Carolina team of Eric and Marya Jenkins weighing in 186.32 pounds and earning $2,500.00. Eric and Marya were fishing Lake Marion in 8 feet of water catching fish on a windblown bank where shad were pushed in shallow. The team caught a total of 13 fish for the weekend on gizzard shad.

Third place went to the Lancaster, South Carolina team of Mark Ghent and Gary Small with a weight of 157.64 pounds and earning $1,200.00. Mark and Gary were fishing the upper lake in 25 feet of water on gizzard shad and perch catching 12 fish in the 2-days.

David Faulkenbury of Pageland, South Carolina and Steve Rorie of Monroe, North Carolina took fourth place with a weight of 157.54 pounds and earning $700.00. David and Steve were fishing Lake Moultrie in 27 feet of water using cut gizzard shad to catch 11 fish.

Fifth place went to Jon Dowd of Carthage, North Carolina and Jeremy Dowd of China Grove, North Carolina with 156.26 pounds and earning $600.00. Jon and Jeremy were fishing in the Randolph Landing Area of Lake Marion in 28-30 feet of waster using cut shad.
