Lake Pueblo State Park Offers “Little Naturalist” Classes

PUEBLO, Colo. – Lake Pueblo State Park is currently offering programs for kids, ages four to eight, and their parents. The programs are designed to foster an interest in the environment and nature and usually include a hands-on activity. All programs are on Saturday at 10 a.m.

All of the events are free, but visitors must purchase a parks pass before entering the park. All ages and abilities are welcome. No reservations are needed. The park naturalist programs are funded, in part, through the Colorado Lottery/Great Outdoors Colorado.

Visitors are asked to please dress in weather-appropriate clothing, bring plenty of water, sunscreen and bug spray.

  • July 2: All-American Animals meets at the visitors’ center.
  • July 9: Hanging with Bats meets at the visitors’ center.
  • July 16: Fascinating Fossils meets at the Arkansas Point Amphitheatre
  • July 23: Snakes Alive!! meets at the visitors’ center.
  • July 30: Prairie Animals meets at the Northern Plains Amphitheatre
  • Aug 6: Beaks, Wings and Talons meets at the visitors’ center.
  • Aug 13: Aquatic Critters meets at Cottonwood day use area
  • Aug 20: Tracks and Scat meets at the visitors’ center.
  • Aug 27: Bear Bingo meets at the visitors’ center.
