How To Improve Deer Stands and Turkey Blinds

   04.23.11

Cleaning up and altering your deer woods while improving how your deer and turkey move past your stand is pretty easy to do. While you don’t want to over do it, you can adjust how deer and turkey move past your stand by moving logs, rocks and brush to create barricades. Because deer and turkey prefer the easiest and safest route they will funnel away from harder travel zones and move through a clearer route when not spooked.

Remember to keep in mind why deer and turkey are traveling a particular direction. They are searching for things such as food, water and bedding or roosting areas.  Also, it is not impossible to use this trick to push deer and turkey out into a field, but if given a choice, they almost always stick to the woods. A fallen tree, stump or rock changes deer and turkey patterns everyday so now you know how to use it to your advantage.

In a time when it is getting more difficult to get kids exposed to nature, Ed believes all outdoors men and women, can and will play an important role in helping to expose more children to the outdoors. The bottom line….our hunting industry future. Ed has coined the phrase "teach a child to hunt and fish and you will never have to hunt the child"!
