Make a Homemade Spreader for your Next Fishing Trip

Fishing tackle can be really expensive (especially if you snapping too many lines). I make my own spreaders at home to save money. It’s really easy.

  • Take an ordinary coat hanger and open up the top:
  • Bend both side pieces down to form loops, making sure that the wire touches itself where it crosses.
  • Cut off excess
  • Now at this point I add swivels before I close the end loops. Then later you just add your leader with hooks.
  • Bend top end to form center loop.

Just add a large snap swivel to the center loop, and tie your main line to the swivel.

I hope this method works for you. If you have trouble the first time, just keep at it!
