The Importance of Evening Sits During Early Bow Season

I, for one, love getting to my treestand early in the morning and watching as the woods wakes up around me. That stuff is just good for the soul! If you’re getting down to the finer details, though,  placing a priority on an evening sit during early season bowhunting can not only increase your odds of success, but it might prevent you from spooking deer out of the area you’re hunting after trying to force a morning sit at a time when mature bucks are typically sticking to a smaller area. A buck nest, if you will.

The video below from Whitetail Habitat Solutions offers some great tips when approaching your early season hunts, and breaks down the importance of having designated morning and evening stand setups.

Where do you stand on this? Do you have two designated stand locations for the morning and evening picked out?

Depending on where you’re hunting, you may not have the luxury of hanging multiple stands, and that’s just fine! It doesn’t mean you won’t have good opportunities, you may just have to put in a little extra work to find that buck nest we talked about before. From there, it’s up to you to put the puzzle pieces together to find out what attracts the deer to that area, and how/when they’re accessing it.

Tell us about your stand setups for this fall, and why you chose to hang it where you did. And as always, good luck to those heading out on the first hunt of the season this year!
