Night of the Thermal Hunt – Predator Calling

Predator hunting is more than just showing up. If you want to be successful, you need to prepare yourself and one of the key areas you will need to understand before hand is how to call in your prey. Over the past couple of years we have really become more interested in thermal hunting and predator hunting in general.

Even with the corona virus lockdowns, we have been able to hunt all over the country this year for various types of game, including coyote, bobcat, and fox. One of the keys to our success has been the use of e-callers. We have been primarily using the Turbo Dogg from Primo’s which has a number of great features and a very powerful speaker.

Predator Calling

In this episode of Night of the Thermal Hunt, I’m going to break down some of the fundamentals of predator calling based on what we have had success with. As with any type of hunting, I am sure there are people out there who do things differently then I do and that is ok. At the end of the day, you have to do what works for you and helps you have a successful hunt.

As always, we have been using the ATN Thor 4 640 4-40X as our primary thermal scope. The Thor 4’s have a number of really great features that have helped us throughout the year to grow as thermal hunters and also land some really great kills. In the spring, we were hunting in Texas and I shot my first Grey Fox. As with all of my firsts, I made the call to have the fox mounted and I just got word from the taxidermists that the mount was complete. Take a look below and see what I brought home!
