Indianapolis 500® Centennial Commemorative Firearm

   05.26.11

Rounding out the IMS Centennial Era, A&A Engraving of Rapid City SD has introduced the sister project to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Centennial rifle:

The Indianapolis 500 Centennial rifle.

Authorized and licensed by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this is a very limited edition consisting of only 100 numbered rifles.

Images for the engraving will depict various scenes throughout the history of this famed race as well as the official “100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500” logo, according to Mark Smith, project manager.

“The detailed images will be intricately engraved and finished with high polished nickel and highlighted with 24kt gold, making this a truly spectacular collector firearm on its own, or as the perfect companion to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Centennial rifle.” Smith said. “The Henry ‘Big Boy’ was again chosen as the ‘canvas’ because of its easily recognizable style as well as a layout that allows the room required to include various images.”

Some of the images to be seen include old and new Indy 500 “pits,” one of the first score boards, and Carl Fisher driving the Stoddard-Dayton pace car (believed to be the first use of a pace car and implementation of a “rolling start”), a winner surrounded by the wreath…and of course…holding a bottle of milk.
Other images, including 2 trophies, are shown. Yes…there has been more than one trophy used in the history of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.

Included with each numbered rifle will be a certificate of authenticity and custom oak display case.

A & A Engraving has produced collector and commemorative firearms for more than 33 years. Some of the creations include the American Legion Pistol, Arizona Centennial Firearm, Minnesota 150th Anniversary Rifle, the Indiana State Police rifles and more.
