Summary:
The International Sales & Export Compliance Coordinator is responsible for assisting, coordinating and facilitating Department of State/Department of Commerce export and import licenses and agreements in support of new and existing initiatives, including compliance activities that support international and CTC Defense programs.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and foster strong business relationships and be a point of contact with members of our international business communities. Qualify & establish international distributor candidates as required.
- Learn and stay current with the rules, requirements, processes, and timelines of export control relating to: US Department of State (ITAR), US Department of Commerce (EAR), and US Customs.
- Ensures the administrative and regulatory requirements related to export licensing and compliance are met. Includes reporting, order processing, recordkeeping (licensing and compliance records), auditing, monitoring and screening for all applicable transactions against U.S. Customs, DDTC, and BIS regulations.
- Ensure proper and timely implementation of all authorizations and technology transfer requirements, including requisites imposed as a condition of approval.
- Manage activities with freight forwarders and customs brokers for all international exports.
- Author and update electronic communication tools to support international sales activities.
- Assist with the development of licensing strategies for major International programs.
- Provide day-to-day assistance and company training to employees on compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), other import/export regulations and related issues.
- Serve as an internal liaison with marketing personnel regarding all international sales activities. Assist in the coordination of trade shows and high impact promotional and training events in support of international sales.
- Provide assistance and support to International Sales and Defense Directors as needed or required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 3 + years of experience with international trade compliance with an Associates level degree or 5+ years of experience with international trade compliance without a degree. (experience may substitute for degree requirements)
- Familiar with US Export Administration Regulations / International Traffic in Arms Regulations / US Customs Regulations
- Working knowledge and understanding of international shipping logistics.
- Knowledge of the international arena is a necessity.
- Assertive problem solver w/ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external customers. Attention to detail is paramount.
- Proven multi-tasking skills, project management and time management skills required.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and coordination.
- High degree of initiative, enthusiasm and sound decision-making skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Solid communications skills, both written and verbal required.
- An interest and willingness to learn the firearms industry.
