First-ever Sporting Clays Event Scheduled at Northern Arizona Shooting Range

FLAGSTAFF — The first-ever registered sporting clays event is scheduled for Aug. 20-21 at the fledgling Northern Arizona Shooting Range that is currently under construction near Flagstaff by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

“Even though the range is under construction and not operational, we are able to conduct this fun sporting clays event in the cool pines using portable equipment,” said Jay Cook, chief of shooting ranges.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The cost is $50 for those doing the registered shooting with the National Sporting Clays Association. You can also enjoy a “shoot for fun” event for $30 (100 targets). Cash or check only please. For more information, call the Ben Avery Clay Target Center at (623) 434-8119.

To reach the range, take I-40 east 15.5 miles to the Winona exit (No. 211), turn right on Forest Road 82 and travel 1.5 miles to the intersection of Forest Road 82 and Forest Road 128, then turn right on FR 128. Travel 4.1 miles to Forest Road 128A (signs will be posted) and the range is .3 miles away.

Keep in mind you will be traveling dirt roads to get here.
