2011 EGW Area 8 Handgun Championship Heads To Fredericksburg, VA

WHO:
Over 270 of the region’s best pistol shooters in the sport of practical shooting will put nearly 70,000 rounds downrange during the four-day regional handgun shooting championship.
WHAT:
The U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) regional match, the 2011 EGW Area 8 Handgun Championship, is the fifth of eight regional championships on the 2011 schedule. USPSA is the national governing body for the sport of practical shooting in the U.S. with more than 20,000 members competing at 375 member clubs throughout the country in weekly matches, as well as state, sectional, regional and national championships.
Competitors will shoot a 10-stage course of fire for the Area 8 championship title in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions. Additionally, honors will be awarded in the categories of High Lady, Senior, Super Senior, Junior, Military and Law Enforcement.

Additionally, the 2011 EGW Area 8 Handgun Championship will feature a side match fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. The Area 8 fundraising effort for the Wounded Warrior Project was put in motion following a letter asking for support from 11-year-old Lee Wills. To date Area 8 clubs have raised over $6,500.
Area 8 is the Mid-Atlantic region within USPSA and one of the eight shooting regions in the country. Area 8 is made up of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia but top shooters from throughout the country are expected to attend the match.
