Scottsville, Ky. Sept. 1, 2011 – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to the Barren River Sept. 10-11 for its fifth and final stop in the Mountain Division. This will be a two-day super tournament where as many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.
“The fish will be scattered a lot more than usual,” said Walmart FLW pro Kevin Snider of Elizabethtown, Ky. “Barren has a lot of good fish in it, and someone could load the boat real quick, but it’s usually pretty tough in the fall.
“The main pattern will be brush piles, and jigs and crankbaits will be pretty dominant,” Snider added. “It takes big weights down there sometimes, but it seems like the fishing gets tougher on every lake as we head into fall. I’d say 24 pounds for two days will do really well.”
Takeoffs will be at the Port Oliver Recreation Area & Ramp located at 4200 Barren River Dam Rd. in Scottsville at 7 a.m. each morning. Saturday’s weigh-in will be at the marina beginning at 3 p.m., and Sunday’s final weigh-in is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Walmart located at 2345 Happy Valley Road in Glasgow. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
