Lindenwood Wins Ninth Consecutive ACUI Clay Target Championship

With an overall team score of 2263 out of 2350, Lindenwood University captured its ninth consecutive High Overall Aggregate in the ACUI Clay Target Championships, held this past weekend at a National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas.

Lindenwood teams went unmatched in five of the six events that comprise the championships, placing first in Sporting Clays, International Skeet, International Trap, American Skeet and American Trap.

This was the Lion’s fourth championship under the tutelage of Shawn Dulohery who took over as head coach in 2008.

At least one shooter dressed in the Lindenwood gold and black could be expected to appear in every finals, shoot-off or among the top shooters in any of the events.

Lindenwood shooters also received the High Overall Aggregate in both Men’s and Women’s. Out of a potential 550, Sarah Hughes shot her way to the Women’s HOA with a flat 500, 22 points higher than second place’s Ashleigh Hafley of Bethel University. Casey Van Sant’s 518 edged out Sarah’s brother Matt Hughes by two points for the Men’s HOA title.

Southeastern Illinois College placed first among Division II schools, with its shooters collectively posting a score of 2159. Hillsdale College, shooting a 1402 out of 1650, took first in Division III.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and many thanks to all the shooters who came out. These championships are growing into something huge and it’s all because of you.
