Delaware Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Seeks Suspect in Turkey Case

DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement agents are seeking a suspect who, according to witnesses, fired a gun from inside a vehicle across a public roadway and illegally took a wild turkey.

The incident took place at about 3:30 p.m., April 18, near the intersection of Massey Church Road and Vandyke Greenspring Road in Smyrna. According to witnesses, the suspect fired at a wild turkey across the roadway from inside a newer model black pickup truck with an extended cab, collected the turkey and left the scene. The suspect was described as a white male with long blond hair and some facial hair.

“Shooting a weapon across a roadway is a hazard to public safety, and is an offense we take very seriously,” said Sgt. Gregory Rhodes, Fish and Wildlife Enforcement spokesman. “We encourage anyone with any information on this incident to contact us.”

Through Operation Game Theft, up to $1,000 is rewarded for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Caller identity is kept confidential.
