Ruby Dam Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Ruby River south of Alder reopened late last week after a long-term closure which began in the summer of 2010. The site was closed during work on the Ruby Dam Rehabilitation Project. Phase one of that project has now been completed.
Phase two of the Rehabilitation Project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2013. At that time, the Ruby Dam FAS will close again to protect the public from any potentially hazardous conditions associated with construction until completion of the project. The anticipated completion of phase two is late spring or early summer of 2014. Dates for reopening the FAS are subject to change due to construction schedules and environmental condition.
