Conservation Partners to Announce Major Habitat Restoration and Land Acquisition

The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and other partners will announce a major accomplishment in the effort to protect some of Florida’s most imperiled species by acquiring land, restoring wetlands and establishing a wildlife conservation corridor. It will also benefit Everglades restoration goals.
The announcement will be made at a news conference set to start at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The event will be held at the TNC’s Disney Wilderness Preserve in Kissimmee, Fla. located at 2700 Scrub Jay Trail.
Expected to participate in the news conference are:
Dave White, Chief, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Washington, D.C.; Shelly Lakly, Executive Director , The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Orlando, Fla.; and Mark Musaus, Southeast Deputy Regional Director, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Atlanta.
