Nebraska’s Commissioners to Meet May 25 in Blair

   05.21.12

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is developing a mobile application for smart phones to help users connect to the outdoors while on the go. Commissioners will hear a staff report on the project May 25 at their meeting in Blair.

The meeting begins at 8 a.m. at the Blair City Hall, 218 S. 16th St.

Commissioners also will consider a recommendation that would expand three wildlife management areas (WMA) in southeast Nebraska. The recommendation calls for the transfer of public use and land management at five sites from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to Game and Parks. Two sites are at Langdon Bend WMA, two at Brownville Bend WMA and one at Tobacco Island WMA.

The commissioners also will hear updates about various fishing programs, including the new “Wanna Go Fishing for Millions?” promotion with Cabela’s, Family Fishing Nights, Carp-O-Rama and high school fishing clubs. There will be presentations on the Niobrara Council activities and various Game and Parks habitat programs.
