Mule Deer Foundation Donates $150,000 to the Scholastic Shooting Trust

Salt Lake City, UT— Partnered with Midway USA Foundation, the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) has recently completed a national fundraising effort through their local Chapters raising $150,000 for youth shooting programs. The donation has been made to the Scholastic Shooting Trust (SST) and divided among 62 high schools, universities and colleges in 11 MDF active states.

MDF continues to involve youth in shooting sports and wildlife conservation through our M.U.L.E.Y. Shooting Program on a local, state and national level. “The Mule Deer Foundation’s donation to Scholastic Shooting Trust will help to ensure these teams continue to grow and help introduce more youth to shooting sports,” said Miles Moretti, President and CEO of the Mule Deer Foundation. “Having our local Chapters involved with raising funds for SST is another way to directly affect shooting teams in their local areas.”

MDF is one of the key conservation groups in North America working to restore, improve and protect mule deer, black-tailed deer and their habitat. MDF acknowledges regulated hunting as a viable management component and is committed to recruitment and retention of youth into the shooting sports and conservation. Most recently, the Mule Deer Foundation has developed a youth shooting program – M.U.L.E.Y. (Mindful, Understanding, Legal & Ethical Youth) to introduce more youth into the shooting sports and wildlife conservation.

SST was formed to provide funding for shooting sports education in public and private high schools, colleges and universities. The trust is a mission of MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc and started by Larry and Brenda Potterfield in 2007 to support education in shooting sports, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills.
