Factory Beta racer Cody Webb piloted his 350 RR to a solid second place in the ESPN X Games Enduro X competition. For Webb, this was a huge step towards the top as the 24 year old from Santa Cruz California rider now 3rd in points only 12 back from the leader.
This year’s event included the famous “Drop In” ramp start which had riders dropping 50 feet into the first corner. Webb started the night by dominating his qualifier and taking the win by more than eight seconds. This helped boost his confidence going into the finals.
In the main event Webb had an 8th place start going into the first rock turn however with his mad trial skills he was able to pass a few riders coming out in 4th place. Webb then put his head down making sure he made no mistakes and hit his lines each lap. He put the pass on two more riders and was in second by the third lap where he would stay for the remainder of the race.
Webb explains, “To get the silver medal at X games was an amazing experience. Coming off an 8th place finish last year I knew I had to put in more work during the off season to get on the podium and the hard work seems to be paying off. My Beta 350 RR was set up perfect and allowed me to ride a mistake-free race. I would like to thank American Beta, my mechanic Rob, Alan from Stillwell Performance, as well as all of my friends and family for all of their support to help get me to this level.”
Newest member of the Beta squad Max Gerston failed to make the main event however showed signs of good speed during the qualifiers. The likeable Arizona racer missed out in the second qualifier after running as high as third place.
Beta Factory team’s next stop is Round 4 of the AMA Geico Endurocross series in Ontario, California on September 15th.
