Texas Deer Association’s 14th Annual Convention to Be Held August 9-11

Looking for a fun-filled, educational weekend with the family to beat the heat? Check out Texas Deer Association’s (TDA) 14th Annual Convention and Fundraiser at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa from August 9-11, 2012.

“The Texas Deer Association’s annual convention has always been an exciting and informative event for whitetail enthusiasts to come together and share in their passion for whitetails,” said TDA Executive Director Karl Kinsel.

“The three day event has much to offer for the whole family with both entertaining and educational opportunities. The staff at TDA works hard each year in preparation for the annual convention, and are always elated by the number in attendance and the support shown for the association. We look forward to another successful convention!”

The fun starts early on Thursday, August 9 at 7 a.m. with the 9th Annual TDA Bobby Marburger Memorial Golf Tournament. It’ll be a Four-man Florida Scramble with various prizes.

Thursday night boasts the 5th Annual TDA Poker Tournament and Casino Party. Attendees will find roulette, Texas Hold ‘Em, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud, Craps, Poker, Slot Machines and Let It Ride. Winners receive raffle tickets for a chance to win even bigger during the drawing for prizes.

If casino isn’t your style, check out the Washer Championship competition. Pair up with a TDA member and compete your way to one of the top five places to win a prize.

Kids can learn to wild game call, participate in archery, learn to score an antler and be informed on gun safety during one of the many TDA educational youth activities taking place on Friday and Saturday. Parents also have the chance to enroll kids in the Range Riders fun, activities and movie night.

Foodies will have fun at TDA’s Cake Shop and Pasture to Table classes on Friday. Cake Shop attendees will enjoy learning to make and then perfecting cake balls with Executive Pastry Chef S. Tina Haldeman. At Pasture to Table, Chefs Doug Dillard and Brian Bailey will teach the art of preparing venison sausage and jerky. Both classes’ attendees’ will go home with a custom TDA apron.

Ladies of all ages will enjoy the Style Show on Saturday, August 11. Brunch will be served and a Jewelry Demo Class will follow. Participants can craft a necklace, earrings or a bracelet to keep.

For those new to the whitetail industry, TDA will be offering great seminars each day. Attendees will be educated on the basics of the whitetail deer industry, in-depth breeding techniques and ranch management for the lease and landowner. Before long, you’ll be networking with the right people!

Adult guest passes to view the array of exhibits are $20 each. Children under 10 are admitted free. Registration for the entire three-day conference and events is $325 if registered by July 31. Non-members add $50 for a TDA Sportsman Annual Membership.
