On the occasion of the second day of the 2012 ICAST convention, the Pursuit Channel announced that it has become the first and only network television distributor of hunting, shooting and fishing programming to multicast its live, uninterrupted television feed to the world’s estimated 2 billion internet users.
Pursuit Channel began successfully multicasting its live signal through the FilmOn.com IPTV network in May 2012. By August 1, 2012, Pursuit Channel projects to add its own IPTV network to the worldwide web (pursuitchannelonline.com), according to network executives. And as an incremental value, all episodes will continue to be made be available on-demand at www.pursuitchannel.com.
With head-ends and data centers in Geneva, Amsterdam, London, New York, Dallas, Honolulu, Chicago and Los Angeles, FilmOn.com is an online streaming television provider owned by billionaire new-media pioneer Alki David and his FilmOn.TV Networks Inc.
Pursuit Channel, the only audited, outdoors-specific network viewable in the homes of all DIRECTV (channel 608 PRST) and DISH Network (240 PRST) subscribers in the U.S., is free to FilmOn.com viewers, who currently enjoy access to more than 120 streaming TV channels, multiple movie and pay-per-view channels and more than 2,000 video-on-demand titles.
According to data from the Video Metrix service of comScore, Inc., a leading analyst of digital activities worldwide, 180 million U.S. Internet users each consumed 21.9 hours of online video during May 2012.
The Pursuit Channel live network stream will also be available to compatible wireless devices.
“It’s fun to mix honored traditions as old as mankind – hunting and fishing – with the technologies of Buck Rogers,” said Rusty Faulk, CEO of Pursuit Channel. “Truly, Pursuit’s exclusive position as the outdoors’ only live-stream multicaster is an absolute game changer; it’s a new reality that disrupts the whole notion of status-quo outdoors television… again.”
Pursuit Channel is exhibiting this week at the 2012 ICAST convention in Orlando, FL. Independent television producers and marketers are encouraged visit network representatives on site at booth 1227.
