Newton Running, the leader in performance running shoes that actively support and strengthen natural running motion, is sponsoring, for the second time, the Newton Ready to Run 20 Miler taking place on Sunday, September 16, 2012.
Chicago’s Newton Ready to Run 20 Miler prepares runners for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 7 by providing participants, half of whom train with CARA’s summer marathon training program, a fully supported 20-miler as their last long training session before tapering for the 26.2-mile marathon. About 5000 marathoners-in-training are expected at the Newton Ready to Run 20 Miler.
“CARA’s commitment to helping runners reach their personal and competitive goals aligns closely with Newton Running’s values surrounding natural running education and designing shoes that help people run better,” says Stuart Johnson, VP of Marketing for Newton Running.
“Whether you are a first-time or veteran marathon runner, it is easier and more fun to run 20 miles with others,” says Wendy Jaehn, Executive Director for CARA. “This event prepares runners for the marathon days and celebrate their accomplishments with a fantastic post-event party. Newton’s support allows us to enhance the event and support our goal of educating runners on new shoe technology and running form.”
The Newton Ready to Run 20-miler follows a point-to-point course along the scenic Chicago lakefront and provides runners with well-stocked aid stations, cheering crowds and a finish-line celebration.
Newton Running and CARA also share a mutual commitment to social responsibility. CARA underwrites over 70 charities including the American Cancer Society and PAWS Chicago, while Newton Running raises funds and donations for Athletes for a Cure, Trickle Up, One World Running and many more.
