Access and Habitat Board Seeks Two Hunter Representatives

ODFW is accepting applications for two Hunter Representative positions on the Access and Habitat (A and H) Statewide Board. The application deadline is Sept. 2, 2012.

The A and H Program is funded by a $4 surcharge on hunting licenses. Funds raised by the program are distributed through grants to individual and corporate landowners, conservation organizations, and others for wildlife habitat improvement and hunter access projects throughout the state.

The A and H Board is made up of seven citizen volunteers—three landowner representatives, three hunter representatives, and one public-at-large representative. The Board reviews and recommends wildlife habitat improvement and hunting access projects to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.

Board members are appointed to a four-year term by the Commission and may be reappointed once to serve a second consecutive term. They meet four times each year in various communities throughout the state to review project funding applications, hear public testimony, act as liaisons between the program and the public, and attend to other program business.

People with an interest and experience in hunting and wildlife conservation are encouraged to apply. Contact Program Coordinator Matt Keenan at (503) 947-6087 or visithttp://www.dfw.state.or.us/lands/AH/get_involved.asp and click A and H Board Membership Application.
