Petersen Joins Delta Waterfowl as Vice President of Development

Delta Waterfowl has hired J.D. “Pepper” Petersen to be the foundation’s new chief fundraiser.

Petersen, of Helena, Mont., has more than a decade of professional fundraising experience in a variety of conservation and political organizations, including the National Rifle Association, Prickly Pear Land Trust, The Montana Conservation Voters and Project Vote Smart. Prior to joining Delta, he owned ColdWater Public Relations, a Montana-based public relations firm focusing on strategic advertising, marketing and PR for government, nonprofit and Fortune 500 clients.

Named as vice president of development, Petersen brings a broad fundraising perspective to Delta Waterfowl, with a focus on major donations and planned gifts. He holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management and a bachelor’s degree in political science. He enjoys hunting and fishing, and has a strong passion for the outdoors.

“Preserving our hunting and fishing heritage means preserving our core values,” Petersen said. “It’s an awesome thing to share those values with our families, friends and communities through the work we do with our volunteers, members and supporters at Delta Waterfowl.”

Petersen will work from the Bismarck, N.D., office. Contact him at (888) 987-3695 or email to pepper@deltawaterfowl.org.
