Black Bullheads will be Stocked in Four Nebraska Lakes

Catchable-size black bullheads will be stocked in four eastern Nebraska lakes on Aug. 28, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The Valentine State Fish Hatchery will stock 8- to 12-inch bullheads in the following lakes: Louisville No. 2A, 1,260 bullheads; Fremont No. 3, 2,630; Two Rivers No. 7, 1,220; and Two Rivers No. 6, 2,720.

Bullhead fishing does not require expensive equipment, just a rod and reel, some hooks, weights and maybe a bobber. Night crawlers and garden worms are good baits. The daily bag limit on the lakes listed above is five.

“There still is plenty of time left to take the kids fishing before this summer is over,” said Daryl Bauer, Game and Parks fisheries outreach program manager. “Bullheads are almost always willing to bite and are great for introducing kids and beginning anglers to fishing.”
