Special Youth Deer Hunting Opportunity Scheduled October 18 & 19 in Montana
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks 10.15.12
Hunters should check the regulations for the areas they plan to hunt as the general deer and elk hunting season approaches. Please be especially careful about the rules governing special youth hunts.
On Thurs., Oct. 18, and Fri., Oct. 19 there will be a special youth deer hunt offered statewide. Youth hunters must be accompanied by a person 18 years of age or older who is not hunting. The special youth hunt does not include elk.
In this hunt youth hunters with a general deer license, commonly known as an “A” license, or a “Deer B” antlerless license may take deer that are otherwise legal with their license during the general firearm season. Youth hunters are defined as legally licensed hunters 12 to15 year of age and legally licensed 11-year olds who will reach 12 years of age by January 16, 2013.
The general deer and elk season gets underway on Sat., Oct. 20 and runs through Sun., Nov. 25. Hunting regulations are available at all license outlets, at all FWP offices and on the FWP website.
