Brownells Names Matt Buckingham President/COO

Frank Brownell, Chairman of Brownells – The World’s Largest Supplier of Firearms Accessories and Gunsmithing Tools − is proud to announce long-time Chief Operating Officer, Matt Buckingham, has been appointed President of Brownells. Buckingham will assume the President’s title held until recently by Pete Brownell, and will report directly to Pete Brownell, who will continue as CEO of the third-generation family-owned company.
During his eight-year tenure with the Brownells organization, Buckingham has served as the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the Brownells brand. Although he’ll retain his COO title, Buckingham will shift his focus from solely managing the operations component of the company to overseeing the day-to-day business of the entire organization, in addition to making sure the company executes the long-term goals set forth by the CEO and the Chairman.
“Matt’s blend of cultural awareness and operational expertise make him a solid leader and a great advocate for our company and its values,” said Pete Brownell. “We’re enjoying explosive growth and are facing exciting new opportunities. With this change, Matt can focus on managing the company day-to-day, and the execution of the President’s responsibilities. This will allow me to focus on strategic development, corporate governance, and representing Brownells companies to our industry. Matt and I are a great team, both playing to our strengths.”
A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and Northwestern University’s Executive Scholars Program, Buckingham is currently an Executive MBA candidate at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business. The Iowa-native is an avid and active outdoorsman, novice gunsmith, and a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
