Body of Missing Hunter Located in Maine
This morning at approximately 6:10 AM, Maine game wardens located the body of Eugene Koehler, age 75, from Riverside, Pennsylvania. Koehler had been hunting with a friend Anthony Zielinski from Wapwallopn, PA in a remote area located adjacent to the 42000 Road in unorganized township T43MDBPP in Washington County.
Koehler was last seen by his friend on the 42000 Road (see attached photo) yesterday afternoon. When Koehler did not meet Zielinski yesterday at dusk, authorities were called. Wardens were contacted at approximately 6:30 PM last evening (Nov. 14) and immediately organized a search for Koehler. Game wardens searched throughout the night and into this morning. Koehler was located near the 42000 road by a Maine game warden early this morning. The incident remains under investigation but natural causes are suspected in Koehler’s death.
The search involved Warden Lieutenant Dan Scott, Sergeant David Craven, and Wardens Jim Martin, Brad Richard, Joseph McBrine, Bayley Grant, Joseph Gardner, and Alan Curtis and his canine Cruizer. Also assisting in this incident was the Sunrise Search and Rescue Team based out of Machias.
