Alabama State Parks Offer Discounted Lodging for Hunters

Select Alabama State Parks are offering a “Hunter’s Special” lodging package from now through February 2013 for hunters that hunt on Alabama’s Wildlife Management Areas (WMA). The special lodging room rate is $49.95, and is offered at the following state parks: Cheaha, Lakepoint Resort, Joe Wheeler, DeSoto, and Lake Guntersville.

“Hunters are an important part of Alabama’s natural heritage,” said Alabama State Parks Director Greg Lein. “The funding generated by hunting license sales is combined with federal matching dollars, which helps support public lands such as WMAs. Without Alabama’s hunters, access to public recreational land could be more limited. We appreciate all of what our hunters do for wildlife and land conservation.”

The “Hunter’s Special” discount is exclusive to hunters and their spouses, and applies to lodge rooms, cottages, chalets, and cabins at the designated parks. Hunters must show their hunting license and WMA permit in order to receive the discount. Discounted camping for hunters is being offered at Florala and Wind Creek state parks. Contact the individual parks directly for specific rate information.
