G4S International Training Inc. Virginia Facility to Teach New Course: IDPA 2.0 on April 15th, 2013

G4S International Training, Inc. (G4S ITI), a training company of G4S GS, and providers of benchmark security training programs to the U.S. Government, U.S. Military and corporate America, is pleased to announce its newest course to its roster:  the IDPA 2.0 Course. This course will be held on April 15th, 2013 and will be taught by G4S ITI Senior Firearms Instructor and Team ITI Captain Brandon Wright. It is designed to teach students how to shoot IDPA stages, to understand common terms used in IDPA matches and the mental side of the game. Shooters need to be classified in IDPA and know how to draw, reload and handle a gun safely. Wright will cover some fundamentals of shooting in the beginning of the class during the assessment. Props such as swingers, droppers and drop turners will be used in the course as the students will be shooting stages throughout the class.

The following topics will be taught in the course:

  • Fundamentals assessment
  • Common IDPA terms
  • Mental management for stages
  • Essential elements for accurate shot placement
  • Stage analysis and breakdown:
    • Starts
    • Setups
    • Props
    • Shooting on the Move
    • Target Transitions

Students must hold a classification in IDPA in order to register for this course. 500 rounds of pistol ammunition are required per person. Class will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a one hour break for lunch. This course includes eight hours of instruction and a letter of completion.

Individual equipment required includes: a pistol / revolver in good working condition (nothing smaller than a .38 caliber), a pistol with three or more magazines or speed loaders, a belt with holster and magazine pouches, a cover garment, weapon cleaning kit (with oil), eye and ear protection (clear and shaded lens are recommended), snacks, baseball cap, rain or inclement weather gear and sunscreen (non-greasy or water resistant recommended). We recommend you wear comfortable shoes (no toeless), long pants and a long sleeve shirt (weather dependent).
